President Obama's Cancer Panel names synthetic paint ingredients as carcinogens In May 2010, the President's Cancer Panel reported that "the true burden of environmentally and chemically induced cancers has been grossly underestimated" and strongly urged action to reduce people's widespread exposure to carcinogens. The extensive two year study by the President's Cancer Panel is the first to focus on environmental and product causes of cancer. The report named specific chemicals known, or suspected to be, causes of cancer, including formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, vinyl chloride and others commonly found in synthetic household paints.
